23rd September 2024, the NSS unit of Dayanand Girls PG College, Kanpur organized a program of “Establishment of Saree Bank”. Prof. Vandana Nigam and Prof. Archana Verma inaugurated the bank by cutting the ribbon. Informing the students about the purpose of setting up the bank, the NSS Program Officer of the college, Dr. Sangeeta Sirohi said that this saree bank has been established with the objective of "A Gift From One Sister To Another Sister". In which any woman without any caste or age discrimination can take saree free of cost by giving her Aadhar card or identity card for her family program, party or cultural programmes etc. Thesaree has to be returned within 15 days with proper maintenance. The women living in the adopted slum by the college, Sarasaiya Ghat were also be informed about the saree bank set up in the college and extensive publicity was being done buy social media print media and electronic media. So that everybody can get sarees when needed. All the professors and NSS volunteers, especially Varsha Singh, Akanksha Yadav, Antara Kashyap, Jahnvi Kashyap, Aastha Shukla, Shraddha, etc. contributed significantly in making the program successful.
