The NSS Unit–II of A.N.D.N.N.M. Mahavidyalaya, Harsh Nagar, Kanpur organized the Adopt a Senior Citizen Care Home Programme on 10 February 2026 with the participation of 50 NSS volunteers under the guidance of the Programme Officer, Dr. Jaya Bharti, and faculty members. The programme focused on creating awareness about the emotional, social, and physical challenges faced by senior citizens living in care homes. Volunteers interacted warmly with the elderly residents, engaged in meaningful conversations, and encouraged them to share their life experiences, which helped create a positive and supportive environment. NSS volunteers also conducted a structured survey using a pre-designed survey form to understand the needs and experiences of the senior citizens. In addition, food items and essential materials were distributed among the residents with dignity and respect. The programme provided students with an opportunity to observe the daily lives of the elderly and understand their challenges. It proved to be a valuable learning experience that helped volunteers develop empathy, patience, respect for elders, and a sense of community service while strengthening intergenerational bonding.
