“Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam (एक पेड़ माँ के नाम)”
The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit–II of Acharya Narendra Dev Nagar Nigam Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Harsh Nagar, Kanpur, organized a one-day Tree Plantation Programme titled “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam (एक पेड़ माँ के नाम)” on 08 August 2025. The programme aimed to promote environmental sustainability while fostering emotional and cultural values by symbolically dedicating trees in the name of mothers. The initiative highlighted the nurturing role of trees, drawing a parallel between motherhood and nature, and encouraged students to take responsibility for environmental protection. Around 50 students actively participated in the programme. The programme began with an address by the NSS Programme Officer, followed by guidance from Prof. Hitaishi Singh, Officer, Environment Committee, emphasizing the importance of tree plantation and sustainable practices. The programme was organized in collaboration with the Environment Committee. The plantation drive continued for three days, during which new saplings were planted and dried saplings from the previous Yuva Van Sthapana (युवा वन स्थापना) initiative were replanted within the college campus. NSS volunteers planted saplings in designated areas and took a pledge to protect and nurture them. The programme successfully created awareness about environmental conservation, ecological balance, and the long-term benefits of tree plantation, while instilling a sense of respect towards motherhood and nature.
