Department of Mechanical Engineering was established in 1996 . It is currently offering an undergraduate program of B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering with an intake of 60+6(EWS) students. The Department of Mechanical Engineering has over 11 laboratories including Material Testing Lab , Metrology lab , I.C. Engine Lab, Kinematics Lab, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Lab, Mechanical Vibration Lab, CAD Lab ,Fluid Mechanics Lab ,Heat transfer Lab, Engineering Drawing Lab and CAM Lab . Modern computing facilities are available for students at the Computer Aided Design.. Department also extends Testing and Consultancy work for local Industries.

Nowadays with the emerging trends in technology, the demand for new, smart, and traditional machine and mechanism of machines etc. and is increasing worldwide. Mechanical engineering is the oldest branch of engineering but now, it has come up with new trends that align with our current world . These are engineers who deals with traditional and new technology used in mechanical engineering such as Advanced manufacturing, CAE (Computer-aided Engineering), Robotics and automation and Artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Mechanical engineers understand how mechanical devices can help solve problems, and they work to build and repair a wide range of these devices. After working in the field of mechanical engineering, some professionals may wish to advance their careers.
