The Electronics & Communication Engineering Department was started in the year 1996 and now conducts one undergraduate program (B.Tech.), two postgraduate programs (M. Sc. Electronics & Integrated M.Sc. Electronics) program with affiliation to C.S.J.M.University, Kanpur.
The primary focus of the ECE department of School of Engineering (U.I.E.T.), C.S.J.M. University Kanpur, is to Educate & train the students to have in-depth knowledge of the subjects and to expose the students to the world of technology and produce graduates fully equipped to achieve the highest personal and professional standards for Industry application and in higher studies.
A total of 11 experienced faculty members, support core specialization in VLSI design & Technology, Wireless & Optical Communications, Digital Signal Processing. UG & PG students are encouraged to take up interdisciplinary research in various domains and students are placed in reputed companies like Oracle India Ltd & Trigent Software Ltd, TCS, Sponty, Wipro, etc...
The programs offered by the department are the most sought-after ones by Common Entrance Test (conducted by Uttar Pradesh Examination Authority). All three programs are outcome-based, structured to meet the needs of Industry and Research. The program contents are upgraded with the involvement of industry and reputed research institutions.
Academics at UG and PG levels are sustained with a Faculty to student ratio of 1: 20. The curriculum includes a strong self-study component, mini & major projects to develop the students’ independent analytical abilities. To support research across the specializations, an excellent infrastructure comprising of Software tools for Devices and Circuits, a Software Simulation Environment, and state-of-the-art infrastructure including a semiconductor processing facility and characterization are available. Apart from academic research in the core areas oriented towards higher studies, the department is involved in a wide range of application-oriented projects. The department has active interaction with reputed institutes like IIT (Kanpur), HBTU (Kanpur).
It is predicted by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) that the jobs for engineers will grow by 7% from 2016 to 2026. Furthermore, it has also been found that employment in the ECE sector has amplified significantly in the last few years due to the growing nexus between the electronics industry and digital technology. The application of ECE in fields, such as satellite and mobile communication, digital telecommunication, signal processing, power electronics, etc. has created amazing career options.
Apart from this, manufacturing companies, Multinational Corporations (MNCs), research-based or industrial corporations, government authorities, aerospace manufacturing companies, consumer electronics manufacturing, healthcare tools manufacturing, Armed forces (Army/ Air Force/Navy), many others look for candidates with ECE background. ECE engineer's expertise in managing large scale research, conceptualizing, designing, developing, and testing the electronic equipment used in the latest communication devices and other handy technological equipment, such as smartphones, tablets, processors, smart wristwatches, smart LED TVs, etc. has only led to the surge in their demand.
